What makes our team proud to be at Horrocks?
Alec Van De Graaff in our Pleasant Grove, Utah, office, shares how an initial internship at Horrocks evolved into a full-fledged career path with a team he is proud to be a part of.
As a Drainage Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Alec devotes much of his time to keeping roadways safe for driving and protecting the existing landscape through drainage and pipe infrastructure. Outside of the office, Alec spends his time playing basketball, reading fantasy books, and perfecting his pizza-making skills.

I’m Alec Van De Graaff. I’m on the transportation drainage team, and I’ve been at Horrocks for a little over two years. Now, staying at Horrocks was not actually my original plan. But two things really caught my attention and convinced me to stay. The first was how well Horrocks treats their employees. I noticed that on day one … with employee benefits, with the company listening to employee feedback. Ah, with the responsibilities I was given even as an intern while I was still in school, I just felt really trusted and valued as an employee.
The second thing is the integrity of the company. No matter the budget of a project or the timeline of a project, I’ve been really impressed that Horrocks doesn’t cut corners, doesn’t ignore the parameters given by the client, and it makes for a work environment that I’m really proud to be a part of.
